CRYSTAL BAKER-MANNING

Based on the short story by Angela Carter, The Tiger's Bride is a short film exploring the journey of a young woman into freedom and personal liberty. She begins the story as a woman used as a pawn for others pleasure and gain. Throughout, she develops a bond with the Tiger, and begins to gain her own agency and take control of her situation, before finally choosing the life of a Tiger herself, gaining full freedom.

This costume consists of a dip-dyed tulle veil, latex gown and artificial bones, and a hand-painted bodysuit. I created the latex fabric by painting liquid latex over mesh net, the bones using a papier mache and wire core coated in car body filler, then painted with acrylic and latex.
